Word Picture of Intercessory Prayer - from All Things Are Possible through Prayer
by Charles L. Allen
Picture some person in one room of a house and God in the next room. Between the two there is a wall. But if you stand in the doorway connecting the two rooms, then you can see the ones in each room. One could speak to the other through you. It may be that you have contact with some person who needs God's help. Between that person and God there may be a wall. It may be a wall of unbelief, or unconcern, or wrong living. But because you have contact both with that person and with God, you become the contact between the two and your prayers connect the person's need with God's power.
That is intercessory prayer.

Pray for our Military men and women
Please include
these young warriors in your daily prayer time. They are selflessly defending our freedoms around the globe, including our freedom to pray. Pray that God would protect them from harm, and that they would learn
to rely upon our Lord's strength and guidance.
If you have new information about anyone on this list, please send it to us by clicking here:

Did you know?
- As this community's blood provider, Lifeblood relies on volunteer donors to supply blood to area hospitals. The blood Lifeblood donors give stays right here to help local patients in need.
- Because Memphis hosts the second largest medical district in the nation (per capita) there is a constant need for more blood donors. Our local hospitals use TWICE as much blood as the rest of the United States!
- Only five percent of those eligible to donate blood actually do. Lifeblood must import blood from other volunteer donor centers across the country to meet the needs of local patients.
- Whole blood has a shelf life of only 42 days. Lifeblood must collect at least 300 units of blood each day to ensure its availability in times of need.
- Each donation can save up to four lives in our community!
Common Myths
1. "I'm too old to donate blood." FALSE! You are never too old to donate blood. As long as you are in generally good health, are 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, you can donate blood.
2. "I can't donate because I'm taking medication." FALSE! Individuals taking blood pressure medication, cholesterol medication, and even as those with diabetes, can still donate blood. Check with a Lifeblood staff member to find out if your medication precludes you from donating.
3. "It hurts to donate blood." FALSE! You'll feel a little pinch-and just for a few seconds.
4. "I've already donated once this year, so I don't need to donate again." FALSE! Individuals are eligible to donate every 56 days, and are asked to do so.
5. "There's no real blood shortage. The blood will be there when I need it." FALSE! Our local hospitals need more than 100,000 units of blood each year. Lifeblood only collects a little more than half of that amount! In order to prevent hospitals from postponing surgeries, we must import blood from outside volunteer donor centers. The only way to guarantee that blood will be available is to donate as often as possible.
The Hospital Visitation Ministry seeks to extend the ministering reach of Central Church to those who need the love, compassion, and comfort of Christ when facing medical crises and needs involving being in the hospital. It is our joy to visit your family or friends who are in the hospital to share our love and prayers as they would desire us to do so.
If you would like to request a hospital visit, please click on the link above and complete the Hospital Visitation Request Form. Make note of the required information. The Hospital Visitation Ministry Team will be notified, and a visit will be scheduled by one of our Hospital Visitation Lay Ministers or Staff Ministers, as appropriate.
Of course, if you are experiencing a medical emergency or a life-threatening situation, immediately contact 9-1-1. After securing appropriate emergency assistance, you can also advise Central Church of an immediate medical crisis/emergency by calling 901-888-4673 and requesting the Minister on Duty or by calling Sharon Duborg (901-255-8149). If calling after normal office hours, a recorded message will direct you how to proceed.
Jeremiah 29:11-14
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and I will bring you back from captivity."
