The bad things we do are called sin
and sin keeps us away from God's love. Sin is not just doing wrong things, but also not
doing the right things. James 4:17 says, "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought
to do and doesn't do it, sins."
The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23,
"All have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God." This means that the bad things we have done are keeping us from God's
love.
It's kind of like you are on one
side of a big, bottomless divide and God is on the other side. There was no way for you to
get to the other side..
But God loves us so much, He did
something to bridge that divide.
