Fallen Walls - Daniel Aaron Harris
Downtown Memphis is the place to be. People love to go downtown to have fun and to relax. However, the downtown area needs to see the Kingdom of God established there. They need to come to the realization that they need God in their lives. Thousands of people walk the streets and hang out downtown everyday. On top of that, 80,000 people work downtown. Most don't have a clue about who Jesus really is and how his life can impact theirs. Most of the people will tell you that Christians preach hell and damnation, but Jesus himself preached love and compassion. It is our responsibility to go into our city and preach the gospel. If we don't, who will? It's time for the church to rise up and see this city changed for the kingdom of God.

OMI is a non-profit organization committed to training and equipping ministers of the gospel, with an emphasis on biblical expository preaching. The ministry holds preaching events - usually 3-4 days in length - throughout the year on its 18-acre campus in southeast Memphis. In addition to a need for individuals who can help in a variety of areas, we would welcome a group or class's help in the following activities:
- Greeters, ushers at Institutes, special events.
- Kitchen help (including food preparation, serving, cleanup, etc.)
- Serving as host home for a pastor while he is in Memphis.
- Inviting pastor to speak before your class / hosting a small group of pastors at your home or at church for a lunch or supper (typically this would be on a weekend).
Palmer Home for Children
The mission of Palmer Home for children is to present the hope of Christ to children who, through lack of an adequate family structure, are in need of a permanent long-term Christ-centered home. To that end, Palmer Home, as it has since 1895, remains committed to privately-funded, non-governmental child care which keeps siblings together, models evangelical Christian values, mends emotional scars, and restores for each child the full opportunity to reach his or her God-given potential.
- Help with homework during the week or play with them on weekends. Sponsor a party on the weekends.
- Sponsor a child. This is not necessarily a financial commitment, but a time commitment. This entails visiting the child regularly, having him/her come stay for a weekend or for dinner one night, etc. It is an opportunity for these children to see what a Christian family is like.
- Couples can serve as full time house-parents or relief house-parents. This is very detailed, and is definitely a calling and tremendous opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.

Service Over Self

Central Church - SOS Missions Opportunities
- Adopt-a-Week: July 4-10, 2004, Central Church provides volunteers to support SOS in our high school summer camps.
- Adopt a Family: A small group could ‘adopt’ a family whose home we are working on this summer. For example, we will have many needy families, elderly widows, etc... If we were to tear up a kitchen floor, your small group could make meals for the family until we get their kitchen put back together. In getting to know the owner/family, you might find other needs the family has that are not construction related.
- Spring Clean: One Saturday in April of each year SOS needs many church volunteers to help us prepare for our upcoming summer camps. The day is spent from 8:30am - 1pm doing large-scale property clean-up and organization.

Teen Challenge is a ministry to men 17 and older with life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol abuse. Our 12-month residential program strives to help the whole man, not just the substance abuse. Through our Christ-centered, Bible-based educational programs, counseling and work programs, we give the students as many advantages as possible when re-entering society. Judges, who would rather send a young man to Teen Challenge than send him in jail, appoint some students. The success rate at Teen Challenge is consistently 70-86 percent, compared to a 5-10 percent success rate for public/private short-term inpatient drug programs.
