Current responsibilities: Dan joined GMF in 1993 and in 1996 was asked to open its first regional office in San Diego, CA. The West Coast office has grown to over 40 staff. Dan serves as GMF's 10/40 Window Director and has led church planting teams to Albania, Mexico, Venezuela, Cameroon, Brazil, Egypt, Israel, Slovenia, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, India, Myanmar, and the Caribbean. Dan's passion is taking the gospel to people who have never heard the Name of Jesus.
Ministry news: One of the projects Dan has been involved in over the past two years is church planting and evangelism in Yangoon, Myanmar (Burma). In recent months the Myanmar government, which is largely Buddhist, has cracked down on Christian activities and closed some churches. Myanmar nationals working with the church-planting teams have become fearful. Dan and a team from the U.S.A. went to Myanmar in November of 2001 and reported that three churches planted the year before were growing and doing well. They conducted in-home evangelistic meetings and held a five-day leadership training seminar.
Current prayer request: For wisdom and health, for Dan to continue to establish proper family priorities, and for a continued personal, intimate relationship with God.

Current responsibilities: We oversee the Mission Builders Program. Mission Builders are volunteers from all over the world who come to Kona for one to three months to serve the campus in critical needs areas such as the kitchen, landscaping/grounds, maintenance, offices, and hospitality. Don also oversees the maintenance of the existing buildings and the construction of the new buildings on the University of the Nations campus.
Roles:
Don: Along with planning overseeing all the maintenance and building projects on campus,I am also daily pouring myself into some of the younger leaders that are around me, trying to pass on to them God's truths and the experience that God has given me. We physically work hard on the buildings and spiritually work through life-issues together. It is not easy but this is what God made me for, to build buildings and build His kingdom. I have seen these guys grow in their walk with Christ. I also have 30 work duty students that work with us 10 hours a week, so I am getting to know them as well, and encouraging them to seek God and His plans for their lives, while hoping that some of them might come back to work with me long-term.
In November 2007 we were finally, after waiting a year, granted the permits to build a new dorm that will give us 100 more beds! We should also have 3 more permits for 3 identical dorms soon, giving us 400 more beds for the students that God is sending us to train and send out into the world! We hope to have all 4 buildings built in 2008. I've also started a recycling campaign for the base that will save us thousands of dollars each year.
Angie: My role is also split between the administrative work and discipleship of individuals. We receive about 400 Mission Builders each year, ages 18-90, who need housing, need to be picked up and taken to the airport, need to be put in a work role, and need to be discipled in their walk with the Lord. We live among them, so our ministry is 24/7. I'm also working on a plan to receive short-term teams from churches summer 2008 to help us in the construction of the new buildings. I also have the privilege of mentoring young leaders who have completed DTS and are staffing in various roles on campus. I also serve on various leadership teams to help strengthen and bring unity to the whole campus as well as lead a women's Bible Study every week.
Josh (16) and Jordan (14): Both boys are doing well in their online school. They both have jobs and spend the rest of their time in the water or on skateboards. After their mission trip to Europe summer 2007, they are beginning to see how God has made them and how their passions can be used for the Lord. Both are planning to go overseas on mission trips summer 2008.
Allie (12) and Avery (10): The girls are enjoying 6th and 5th grade at the local Christian school. They are often involved in local outreaches, assist us with the Mission Builders, and are looking forward until they are old enough to take their own mission trips like the boys.
The kids are truly getting an incredible view of world missions from right here in Kona! Each quarter, we have students, staff, and mission builders from over 40 countries, and we all have the privilege of building relationships with them.
Current prayer request: We desperately need leaders who will come and help Don lead the Mission Builders on the construction projects. We have many who can work, but we need those who can lead the workers. Please also continue to pray for protection for our children who are constantly exposed to cultural discrimination as well as the addictive drug culture here. Pray that God's plans for them in bringing them here will STAND and NOT be thwarted by the enemy.
