Discovering Grace
"Equipping Lay people for the Ministry"
Discovering Grace Mission Statement: "To provide a safe place of acceptance for people as they discover the power of God's answers through prayer, bible discussion and friendship."
Our class offers intercessory prayer, praise, discussions, fellowship and frequent food for both thought and palate. We provide opportunity for friendship, sharing and encouragement.
The class is primarily adult couples (40s and up), who want to study God's word, learn how to apply it to their lives, and use it in their relationships both inside and outside the church.
When there is a major church function, Discovering Grace members are ready and willing to lend a hand wherever it is needed. In October, Central Church has a Trunk or Treat event for the children in the Collierville community and our class helps with the cakewalk. Our members also helped with Easter Eggstravaganza and other church sponsored events.
We sponsor the mission of pastor Paul and Ragan Morales in Kenya and contribute toward class members going to Kenya on a short term mission trip. The class also aided class member Barbara Holcombe in her mission trip to Ecuador. Going on mission trips is not the only way to serve the Lord. We have missions right here in our community, such as; Calvary Rescue Mission and the Prayer Shawl Ministry led by our class member Lynn Peeples.
We have a lot of fun together. We study some interesting topics and are challenged to really think about our faith. "The fellowships together and friendships made are priceless. We are like a family" says Lynn.
Class Bible Verse: Jeremiah 33:3, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know."
