What Connecting Points Are All About

When adults come together on Sunday morning in our Connecting Point groups they have several needs. One is to connect with God. Too much of our lives are spent racing from here to there and sometimes God gets left out of the mix. He wants to be more than part of the mix and we need Him to be. So, on Sunday mornings we are seeking to experience what it means to be vitally connected to Him.

One of the best ways to connect to God is to connect to His Word. Our Sunday morning Connecting Points are all about connecting with Scripture. This is our source of truth and wisdom, and our way of hearing the heart of God in it's purest form. Learning how to mine the gold out of this book is a prime concern on Sunday morning.

Another way God has provided for us to connect with Him is to connect with each other. We are not to be only individually connected to God but a community of believers who reflect the multi-faceted grace of God. God has given us spiritual gifts and loving hearts to minister to one another. Expect to connect with others in your Sunday morning Connecting Points.

Central's Discover Series of Classes on Discipleship

Discover Central (a one-hour overview at both 9:25 and 11:00 of what Central is all about) Location: Chapel. Dates: October 10, December 5.
Discovery Tour (a one-hour tour of our facilities and ministries) Location: Chapel. Dates: October 10, December 5.
Discover Membership (what you need to know to become a member of Central Church, meets from 9:25-12:10 on Sundays) Location: Chapel. Dates: September 12, November 21.
Discovery Luncheon (after the second service, a lunch with the Pastor to hear his heart and passion for the mission of the church) Location: Fellowship Hall, reservations required (901-255-8120). Dates: September 12, November 21.
Discover Maturity (four healthy habits to growing spiritually, meets from 9:25-12:10 on Sundays) Location: Chapel. Dates: August 15, November 14.
Discover Ministry (finding out your gifts for service, meets from 9:25-12:10 on Sundays) Location: Chapel. Dates: July 25, October 24.
Discover Mission (learning your personal mission in life and what it means to be a local and global Christian, meets from 9:25-12:10 on Sundays) Location: Chapel. Dates: September 19, November 14.

Salt and Light One Year Training Course

What is the Salt & Light Class?
This is a different kind of Sunday School Class. It is actually a "training program" to help Christians learn how to effectively express what they believe - and to effectively witness to the opponents of Christ.

What will be the format of the class?
The class will include both teaching by the instructor and discussion among the class members - lots of discussion. A handout to facilitate the teaching and discussion will be passed out in advance of each class session. Independent research will be encouraged, but is not required.

Who should join the class?
This is an open class - both married couples and singles are welcome. The ideal participants for this class will be those who are:
" Willing to study the handout in advance
" Willing to participate in the discussions
" Open to having what they say lovingly critiqued by classmates and the instructor
" Willing to commit to the entire class schedule (ideal, but not a requirement)

The objective is for every class member to grow spiritually, and to gain confidence in his or her ability to be an effective witness for Christ.

How long with the class last?
The class will last approximately 12 months. In order for class members not to miss any sessions, the class will not meet on holiday weekends and other specific Sundays.
