A Safe Harbor for Singles
It is the goal of any mission-minded church to reach out to people all over the world with the hope of salvation in Jesus Christ. Central Church is no exception, but the folks at Central not only want to spread the Gospel across the globe, they want to minister to their own people as well. For many years children, teenagers, married couples and seniors have all had ministries established just for them. Singles at Central can also count themselves among those who have a ministry dedicated to meeting their specific needs.
Howard Avery, a former Baptist pastor and a current business owner () leads this important ministry with his wife, Nancy. Howard has been through the death of his daughter (he and Nancy have adopted their granddaughter, Mercedes) and the death of his first marriage. He is well acquainted with what it means to be single and what it means to see the death of one's dreams only to find them realized again by the grace of God.
Howard brings Biblical knowledge and pastoral experience to this ministry to singles. It is not just a class on Sunday but a small group on a weekday, relational events designed to create a strong fellowship, service to one another, and a chance to discover one's gifts and how they may be used to minister to someone else.
"Safe Harbor", the weekly class, meets on Sunday mornings at 9:25 in Rooms 153/156.
