Central Church - Home

infants – two years old

The Backyard is where children take their first steps of faith. It is a safe, loving, fun and comfortable place for babies, toddlers and their parents. Nursery staff rock, read, feed, and play with the children to insure that they are content and well cared for.

The nursery is open every Sunday during both church services. There are two nursery areas:

Cross Town (located near the east entrance/Worship Center building) for babies

The Backyard (located in the main children’s building) for toddlers

classes

Sunday Morning: Infants and babies have classes at 9:25 and remain in the same room for the 11:00 hour. Children are assigned to classes based on their birth month and year.

During the week: Kids Klub provides Christian care for children newborn through sixth grade during ministry events and activities at Central Church. Central Learning Center offers full-time daycare and Parent’s Day Out has two and three-day classes for babies and toddlers.

frequently asked questions

When may a child begin attending Sunday School?
As soon as a parent feels comfortable bringing their baby to church, they may leave them in the nursery. We recommend parents check with their pediatrician to be sure.

What is taught in the nursery?
We believe babies can learn about God’s love from the beginning of their lives. We use Little Blessings curriculum from Gospel Light. Each month parents receive a Parent’s Home Page that explains what happens in Sunday School during that month.

What if my baby needs me during the service?
Parents receive an electronic pager and will be beeped if their baby needs them during the morning.

Are children allowed to come to the nursery if they are sick?
No. We have strictly enforced policy which requires children to be symptom free for 24 hours. Children may not come to the nursery if within the previous 24 hours they have had a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, green or yellow mucus, conjunctivitis (pink eye), an unexplained or contagious rash, or contagious childhood diseases such chicken pox, scarlet fever, or measles. If a child becomes sick while in our care, we require parents to come get them and take them home.

What if my child needs to be fed or have a nap while they are in the nursery?
Our first priority is to take care of their physical and emotional needs, which include bottles and naps, as well as changing diapers, rocking, and playing. Our goal is to make your child’s experience in the church nursery a great start to a lifelong habit of attending Sunday School and church.
