Battle Plan Ministries [BPM] is our local outreach to those Christians who’ve found themselves, their marriages, their parenting, and/or their involvement in God’s kingdom radically damaged due to involvement in some form of sexual sin. Today this form of sin has become a plague in God’s church; and from our church BPM reaches out into the midsouth offering healing and discipleship groups for men, a wives’ support group (Faithful Warriors), and information on our BPM website (www.battlelplanministries.org ) for families who are trying to hold the ravages of a hypersexual world from their kids. If anyone needs help in this arena of life they are encouraged to call Rev. Bill Berry, Director of BPM @ 901-754-2148 for information or healing help, or to email BPM at billb13@bellsouth.net.

Calvary operates a shelter for homeless men to provide food, clothing, and housing in order to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are open seven days a week.
Call and schedule a night at the mission. This would include serving dinner and possibly leading chapel. This is a great way to get to know Calvary and discover other opportunities to serve at Calvary.

CEF taught over 4 million children worldwide last year with 1 million being counseled to receive Christ. Locally over 9,000 kids reached last year with thousands coming to Christ over our 60- year history. All accomplished through our Lord and His loving servants who volunteer.
- Good News Clubs: Individuals willing to serve as teachers, assistants and helpers to current Good News Clubs or hostesses to begin new clubs in homes and neighborhoods. These clubs are held once a week for one hour for a period of at least five weeks.
- Party Clubs: Kids love parties and CEF has prepared evangelistic party club teaching kits on a number of themes like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, End of School Year, etc. Reach the children of your neighborhood no matter how heavy your schedule.
- Tutoring & Adopt a School Program: The CEF office has adopted Tread well Elementary School where we tutor children on Tuesday afternoons. Come join us or learn how to get involved in a school near you. This tutoring program is a stepping-stone toward Bible clubs in the schools for which the U.S. Supreme Court has granted CEF permission to do.
- Christian Youth In Action (CYIA): Middle school, high school and college students learn how to effectively evangelize and disciple younger boys and girls by being local summer missionaries while earning a little spending money for the fall. Opportunities are given to participate in 5-Day Clubs in the tri-state area during the summer.
- Local Office Volunteers: Helpers are always appreciated for the folding, labeling and stuffing of our monthly “Prayer Vision” newsletter. Maintaining our small lawn is a wonderful way to help us be available to reach children too.
- Prayer Partners: Prayer warriors are appreciated for every Good News Club, teacher, and of course the children. Our prayer ministry coordinator would love to hear from you.
- CEF Headquarters’ Office Volunteers: The international main office of CEF is 50 miles west of St. Louis (5.5 hours from Memphis). Volunteers can offer skills of expertise or enjoy ministry to kids in the Mailbox Club mail room. Those who serve six hours per day receive free wonderful meals, lodging in the guest resort or enjoy the RV facilities on site. This is a wonderful economical get away opportunity of service for retired couples, youth groups, or small groups.

Do you feel the longing to reach out to your community AND change your world at the same time? You have the chance to do BOTH at Multi-National Ministries. Multi-National Ministries, a program of Memphis Leadership Foundation, is a non-denominational organization that shares the love of Jesus Christ with the culturally diverse population of Memphis through educational, recreational, social, spiritual, and support services. During the past year, MNM has served over 450 students and adults from 19 countries and 4 continents with many different languages, cultures, and religions in providing creative programs to help meet their unique needs. Below are listed some specific and effective ways that YOU can be responsible for making a significant change in the life of a refugee/immigrant child or adult while helping to show them God’s love along the way.
MONDAY NIGHT READING - 6:00-7:00 p.m. Mondays. 1548 Poplar Avenue – Memphis Leadership Foundation Bldg (10 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the spring). A delightful time of paired reading with your “own” elementary student. Because you read with the same children every week, you are able to build sweet friendships with these precious children who need so much help in improving their English and reading skills. This is REALLY a fun and effective program – you will LOVE it! (When you come, enter through the WEST side glass doors of the building.). Contact: laurie@mlfonline.org.
HOMEWORK HELP, 2:15-3:30 Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons. Elementary Homework Help — St. John’s Methodist Church in midtown at the corner of Peabody and Bellevue; Middle/High School Homework Help — 1548 Poplar – Memphis Leadership Foundation Building. Because most of these students have limited English and because do not have parents who speak English, it is very difficult for them to complete their homework assignments correctly. So, that is what we help them do at Homework Help. Because we need at least 1 volunteer for every 2-4 children, we REALLY need a LOT of volunteers! For every volunteer, 2-4 more students will be able to attend. For Elementary Contact: laurie@mlfonline.org. For Middle/High School Contact:heather@mlfonline.org or Brandon@mlfonline.org.
WEDNESDAY KID’S BIBLE TIME 2:15-3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoons. Either at St. John’s Methodist Church in midtown at the corner of Peabody and Bellevue or Memphis Leadership Foundation 1548 Poplar. A fun hour of snacks, crafts, activities, and Bible story. Students are grouped by gender and age. For Elementary girls contact: laurie@mlfonline.org. For Middle/High school girls contact: heather@mlfonline.org (actually, this one is on Monday afternoon!). For boys contact: Brandon@mlfonline.org.
ENGLISH FOR MOMS Bruce Elementary – Monday and Thursday mornings – 7:45-9:00 a.m. Brewster Elementary – Tuesday and Wednesday mornings – 8:45-10:00 a.m. English for Moms is a beginning English class held for refugee/immigrant women and their preschool children. We just need volunteers to help play with the Moms preschool children while the moms are learning English – what could be more fun! Contact:laurie@mlfonline.org.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BIBLE CLUB 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evenings. At Memphis Leadership Foundation, 1548 Poplar Ave. Hanging out, havin’ fun, making friendships and learning about God!! Contact: Brandon@mlfonline.org.
Drop us an email if you are interested in any of these opportunities and, again, please feel free to forward this information to any of your friends who you think might be interested – Thank you SO MUCH!!!

OMI is a non-profit organization committed to training and equipping ministers of the gospel, with an emphasis on biblical expository preaching. The ministry holds preaching events – usually 3-4 days in length – throughout the year on its 18-acre campus in southeast Memphis. In addition to a need for individuals who can help in a variety of areas, we would welcome a group or class’s help in the following activities:
- Greeters, ushers at Institutes, special events.
- Kitchen help (including food preparation, serving, cleanup, etc.)
- Serving as host home for a pastor while he is in Memphis.
- Inviting pastor to speak before your class / hosting a small group of pastors at your home or at church for a lunch or supper (typically this would be on a weekend).

The mission of Palmer Home for children is to present the hope of Christ to children who, through lack of an adequate family structure, are in need of a permanent long-term Christ-centered home. To that end, Palmer Home, as it has since 1895, remains committed to privately-funded, non-governmental child care which keeps siblings together, models evangelical Christian values, mends emotional scars, and restores for each child the full opportunity to reach his or her God-given potential.
- Help with homework during the week or play with them on weekends. Sponsor a party on the weekends.
- Sponsor a child. This is not necessarily a financial commitment, but a time commitment. This entails visiting the child regularly, having him/her come stay for a weekend or for dinner one night, etc. It is an opportunity for these children to see what a Christian family is like.
- Couples can serve as full time house-parents or relief house-parents. This is very detailed, and is definitely a calling and tremendous opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.

SOS exists to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed through urban home repair camps. As an expression of Christ’s love, SOS seeks to empower persons and transform neighborhoods by utilizing volunteers to renovate homes of disadvantaged homeowners in Memphis. Schedule a weekend or Saturday work project. Central Church – SOS Missions Opportunities
- Adopt-a-Week: July 4-10, 2004, Central Church provides volunteers to support SOS in our high school summer camps.
- Adopt a Family: A small group could adopt a family whose home we are working on this summer. For example, we will have many needy families, elderly widows, etc… If we were to tear up a kitchen floor, your small group could make meals for the family until we get their kitchen put back together. In getting to know the owner/family, you might find other needs the family has that are not construction related.
- Spring Clean: One Saturday in April of each year SOS needs many church volunteers to help us prepare for our upcoming summer camps. The day is spent from 8:30am – 1pm doing large-scale property clean-up and organization.
- Central Church Fall Retreat: Fall of each year SOS is available to host a Fall weekend retreat or Saturday Workday for Central volunteers of any age.
- Youth Group Summer Camps: Central junior or senior high youths are invited to participate in our one week summer mission camps.
- Tuesdays at First Baptist Broad Church: June 8, 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27 – Central Church families are invited to participate in our weekly joint praise and worship services each Tuesday of the summer at 7pm at First Baptist Broad Church. Worship will be led by the FBC choir.
- Skilled Construction Leadership: Year round SOS is always in need of committed help from skilled construction volunteers. The ideal type person is a retired person with skill and the ability invest a week(s) at a time to our work.

OTeen Challenge is a ministry to men 17 and older with life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol abuse. Our 12-month residential program strives to help the whole man, not just the substance abuse. Through our Christ-centered, Bible-based educational programs, counseling and work programs, we give the students as many advantages as possible when re-entering society. Judges, who would rather send a young man to Teen Challenge than send him in jail, appoint some students. The success rate at Teen Challenge is consistently 70-86 percent, compared to a 5-10 percent success rate for public/private short-term inpatient drug programs.
