Students will go to Chicago for an intense week of learning how to share their faith on the streets of Chicago.Jesus taught his disciples to be fishers of men, so we focus this entire week on helping students reach their friends. Students will be trained in apologetics and evangelism in the morning sessions, and during the afternoons they will practice their faith as they share Jesus Christ with those they come in contact with in Chicago. The goal is for them to be built into and equipped to share their faith but ultimately to bring home what they have learned. To print a brochure, please click here: SEMP brochure 2012

Current Curriculum
Jr High
This Spring in Jr High we will be going through two studies on Sunday Morning. The first is “How to Understand the Core Truths of Christianity” which helps Jr High students gain a better understanding of topics like the Virgin Birth of Christ, His Diety, Atonement, and the Resurrection. We will also be looking at a study called “How To Get Along with your Parents” which encourages students to honor their parents and communicate with them.
Sr High
Sunday morning: For the first half of this semester, we will be going through a study on the book of Romans, which we are very excited about! The reason for this study is that the students might gain a deeper understanding of the christian life and the role that the Holy Spirit plays in it, by leading. As well as learning to view things from a different perspective, namely God’s, so that they can learn to trust Him with every aspect of their lives as they progress in their faith! Then, we are going to do a study on ‘Desires,’ with the purpose being that many times christians struggle living faithfully to God because deep down, they still desire the things of this world more than they desire to follow Him. So, what we want to do is to highlight a few key passages in scripture where it looks at what it means to desire God more than anything, even in the hard situations that life has to offer us. The goal of this is to learn that we can trust God, which will cause us to desire to surrender to Him, which will enable us to live faithfully to God, as Peter teaches in 1 Peter 4:19.
Wednesday nights: On Wednesday nights this semester, we will be going through a study entitled, “What Difference Does Jesus Make?” This is a very good study because it tackles tough questions that plague believers and non-believers alike. Our goal in going through this study is that the Truth of Jesus would be proclaimed and that everyone who attends will hear something true and real, rather than hearing a distorted Gospel. Also, in February, we will be going through a study on Purity/Identity and look at the ways that our society has distorted sex. We will be going through some very real and very tough issues such as sex-slavery and abortion, with the purpose of sharing the biblical stance towards those issues, but also to show the reconciliation that exists for those who may have already messed up and the restoration that the Lord is faithful to bring to those who call upon Him.
