Preparing for Marriage
A six-week course for those seriously dating or engaged to be married.
Sundays mornings at 11, beginning October 1
Marriage Defined
What does it mean to be married? What makes a successful marriage?
Contrary to popular belief, love is not what holds a marriage together. While love is certainly an important part of every marriage, it takes more than an emotion to create a long lasting marriage.
Over the course of six weeks, we’ll unpack 5 of the most important aspects of a healthy marriage.
1. Values and Convictions
2. Healthy Communication
3. Finances & Budgeting
4. Love & War: Sex & Conflict Resolution
5. Community and Relationships
Why should I come?
Free Marriage License
If you live in Shelby County (TN), you receive a 60% discount on your marriage license by taking part in 4 weeks of premarital counseling. Additionally, Central Church will write you and your fiancé a check for the remaining balance of the license if you complete all six weeks of this course.
Learn What You SHOULD Do
Successful marriages require hard work. In many ways, marriage is a practice in the art of sacrifice and compromise. Learn healthy practices for what you SHOULD do in a healthy marriage.
Learn What NOT to Do
Just as there are things you should do, there are many things a husband and wife should not do. In America, the average marriage prior to divorce is eight years. Learn what to avoid, what not to say and do, and how to avoid common pitfalls.

After many years in a career dealing with conflict management, I am happy to have retired and serve the Lord in new ways. I serve on the Board of Directors for Calvary Rescue Mission and am thankful for the long relationship between Central and Calvary. After 50 years of marriage, my wife and I both enjoy encouraging others to seek the will of the Lord for their life and have found both Bible classes and small groups to be a wonderful way to see lives changed.
