The Great Jungle Journey:
An Epic Cruise from Genesis to Revelation

June 24 – June 28 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
2005 East Winchester Blvd, Collierville, TN

What is VBS?

Every day, our kids are bombarded with questions: Did God really create everything? Why do bad things happen? Was Noah’s ark real? Why do I need to be saved? Can I trust the Bible?

At this VBS, your kids will explore the biblical answers to these questions as they set off on an epic adventure from Genesis to Revelation? Amid sloths, butterflies, river dolphins, and dart frogs, your children will sail along on a fun jungle cruise, stopping at seven ports of call. These ports are the 7 C’s of History: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation. Kids will discover how these events shape our world, and they will learn to reconnect the Bible to their everyday life.

Prepare to swing into fun as we head out on The Great Jungle Journey! A typical night at The Great Jungle Journey looks a little something like this:

Joyful Jungle Lessons for Junior Jungle Explorers

During the lesson time, our jungle explorers will explore the story of the Bible.

Tropic Triumph: Tremendous & Thrilling Games

At this location, our explorers will face and overcome physical challenges or have a blast working as teams.

Crafty Canopy Creations

Electrifying science experiments to explore, creative crafts to invent, high-energy songs to sing, fun memory verse games to play. After finishing the day’s rotations, everyone heads back to the Assembly for the closing that includes more singing, unveiling our animal pals, contest results, and the greatly anticipated daily drama.

Why come?

A Safe Space to Learn

The Jungle Journey is about more than the destination. It’s about the journey. At Central’s VBS, your children will find a safe space to learn and ask questions. Who is God? Why does the Bible matter? At VBS, we create fun lessons to engage children at an appropriate level.

Central Backpack Ministry Event

Fun, Fun, Fun

We’ve got games, crafts, and all types of crazy shenanigans going on! After being at home all summer, we know kids need a way to let their energy out, and we’re prepared to help them go a little crazy (but in a totally safe way).

It's a Partnership

This is more than childcare. We partner with you to give you the resources and tools you need to follow up with your kids and help them understand how to use the Bible as our source of truth in this confusing world.

FAQ

Have questions? We have answers!

When Is Vacation Bible School this Year?

Central Church’s VBS will be held June 24 -28, 2024 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.

What age can children attend VBS?

VBS is open to children who are 4 years old as of June 1st, 2024 through children entering the 5th grade.

How much does VBS cost?

It’s free! There’s absolutely no cost.

What measures are taken to ensure the safety of our children?

We take the safety of your children very seriously.

All adult volunteers are required to have a cleared background check and complete an online ministry-safe training prior to serving during the week of VBS.

What about my child with allergies?

Your child’s care and well-being is our number one care during their week of VBS. We will not be serving any snacks during our 2 hour program, so allergies should not be an issue.

How will I know which class my child has been assigned to?

We are dividing our classes by school grade. Preschool (4-5), K-1 st, 2nd -3rd, 4th, 5th.  Your child will be in the class of the grade they will be entering in the  Fall.

I'm not a kid, but I want to go! Can I volunteer?

There are many ways adults can help during the week of VBS! The main way is by being a group leader for Preschool – 5 th -grade children. There are other opportunities as well. Please check out our volunteer page for a list of opportunities to help with VBS this year.

To sign up as a volunteer, visit our volunteer registration page.

Can my teenager volunteer for VBS?

Yes! We depend on our youth helpers to make VBS run smoothly each year. Students currently finishing 6th-12th grades can serve as teen volunteers/crew leaders.

In fact, VBS needs the help of your teens! All youth helpers must attend training prior to VBS.

To sign up as a volunteer, visit our volunteer registration page.

I can’t volunteer during the week of VBS, but how else can I help?

You can join our decorations team and help turn our building into a great scene for all our Kids! Please check out our volunteer page for more details.

If I am a volunteer, can my child be placed with me?

We will gladly place you with your child during your volunteer time of VBS! On your registration form, please indicate which child (if you have more than one) you would like to be placed with. Please note, whatever the age/grade of your child, this is where you will be placed. For example, if your child is 4, we will place you as a preschool leader. If your child is 7, we will place you as an elementary leader. If you prefer not to be placed with your child, you have that option as well.

Did we miss a question?

If you have additional questions, please email Pastor Justin with
any other questions you may have.

You’re invited to Central’s VBS!

More than a night away from home, we hope you and your children come away from this week knowing how much God loves you. In a confusing world, we want to provide you with the ability to look to the Bible for truth and joy.
